Attaching wall panels: glue or screws?

You can glue or screw down your acoustic wall panels. Which option is most convenient depends mainly on the size of your panels and how much of the wall you want to cover.

For a smaller panel or a subtle accent, gluing is often a convenient solution. Are you going for larger panels or covering an entire wall? Then we recommend screwing the panels in place.

Option 1: gluing your wall panels

Prefer not to drill holes in the wall? Then you can glue smaller acoustic wall panels using a strong mounting adhesive. Always check that the adhesive is suitable for both the material of your wall panel and the surface to which you are attaching it.

Good preparation makes all the difference here. Ensure that the wall is flat, dry, dust-free, and grease-free . Then, apply the mounting adhesive to the back of the panel according to the instructions on the packaging.

Place the panel against the wall, check with a spirit level that it hangs perfectly straight, and press it down firmly. Then allow the mounting adhesive to cure sufficiently.

Option 2: screwing down your wall panels

A large panel on the wall or a full accent wall right away? Then it is best to screw the acoustic wall panels in place.

You insert the screws through the acoustic felt between the wooden slats. This way, they blend in neatly between the slats, and the fastening remains virtually invisible. Using screws with a dark or black head makes them even less noticeable.

The screws and plugs you need depend on your wall. For example, you need different fastening materials for a brick or concrete wall than for a wooden wall or drywall. Therefore, always choose screws and any plugs that are suitable for your type of wall and the weight of your panels.

Carefully measure where your panels will go beforehand and use a spirit level to position them perfectly straight. Distribute the screws across several mounting points so that the panel sits firmly against the wall everywhere.
