Where to place acoustic panels? The best spot in every room
Sound familiar? Your interior is finally exactly how you want it: big windows, a sleek floor, beautiful calm walls. Then your guests arrive⊠and suddenly your living room sounds like a sports hall. đ Don't panic, there's a solution that's as beautiful as it is smart: acoustic panels. They dampen the echo and instantly give your wall a warm, wooden look. But where's the best place to hang them? Let us take you through it, room by room!
Short answer? Hang your panels on the largest bare wall in the room, or on a wall directly opposite another hard wall. That's where sound bounces back and forth the most, so that's where your panels make the biggest difference. Think of the wall behind your TV or sofa, next to the dining table, opposite your desk or behind your bed. đ
Why there? Sound hits glass, tiles and bare walls and simply bounces back. The felt between the slats of our panels absorbs part of that sound and the slats themselves break up the rest. The more your panels get in the way of those reflections, the calmer your room sounds.
1. Living room: around the TV or behind the sofa
The living room is where everything comes together: movie nights, birthdays, kids playing and long chats with friends. No wonder it's the first place to start echoing.
Around your TV: a panel wall behind your TV instantly turns your TV corner into an eye-catcher. The black screen stands out less against the warm slats and the sound from your speakers bounces back less harshly. đż
Behind your sofa: is your TV already against a full wall of cabinets? Then choose the wall behind the sofa. That way, sound no longer bounces straight back to where you're sitting, and you'll notice the difference right away.
đĄ Tip: combine your panels with a floating made-to-measure TV unit in a matching shade. Walnut Oak next to Lorenzo Walnut, or Ivory Oak next to Atlas Oak? A match made in heaven. đ
2. Dining room and open kitchen
Tiles, a kitchen island, a large table and six people all talking about their week at the same time: in an open-plan kitchen, all the hard materials (and voices) come together. Cosy, but sometimes deafening too. đ
Hang your panels on the free wall next to the dining table, right where the conversation happens. That way, dinner with friends stays cosy instead of loud, and you no longer have to shout across the table for the salt.
3. Home office
Do you sound like you're calling from the bathroom in video calls? That's down to the bare wall bouncing your voice straight back into your microphone. Panels opposite or next to your desk make your voice a lot clearer.
Bonus: you instantly have the best background in the whole online meeting. đ Add a wall shelf or magnetic board and your to-dos and favourite photos hang neatly within reach. Still looking for a spot for your printer and paperwork? A made-to-measure desk cabinet keeps everything neatly out of sight.
Which wood shade suits your cabinets?
Walnut Oak, Ivory Oak, Smoked Oak or Charcoal Oak: each finish is matched to one of our cabinet colours. Still not sure? Order free colour samples and hold them against your wall, floor and cabinets at home. That way, you'll know for sure it's a match. đ€
4. Bedroom: as a feature wall behind the bed
Your bedroom is rarely really noisy, but with a parquet floor, few textiles and a bare wall, it can still sound hollow. And let's be honest: an empty wall behind your bed is simply a missed opportunity.
Panels behind your bed work like a stylish, continuous headboard. The warm wood instantly creates that hotel feeling you love to snuggle into at night. đŽ
Complete the look with a ceiling cabinet above your bed or a made-to-measure wardrobe in a shade that matches your wall. That way, your bedroom feels like one harmonious whole.
5. Entrance hall and stairwell
Your entrance hall is the first thing your guests see (and hear). Long walls and a hard floor quickly create an echo with every step or every "I'm home!".
Cover one long wall with panels and add a few design hooks or a wall shelf. That way, your panel wall instantly becomes your coat rack, your key spot and a warm welcome. đ§„
6. Toilet
In the smallest room in the house, it's all about the look. Because yes, your toilet deserves a wow factor too. âš A strip of panels in a niche or behind the toilet instantly gives the room character. Combine it with a made-to-measure toilet cabinet and you also gain extra storage for toilet rolls and cleaning supplies.
Please note: a bathroom with a shower or bath is too humid for the wooden slats and the felt. So keep your panels for dry rooms.
Design your acoustic wall
Ready to get started? Enter the dimensions of your wall, choose your favourite finish and instantly see how many panels you need. Hooks, shelves and a magnetic board can be added in no time.
How many panels do you need?
Good news: you don't need to be a maths whizz. 𧟠One panel measures 270 x 60.5 cm. Divide the width of your wall by 60.5 cm and round up.
Example: a wall 3 metres wide? 300 Ă· 60.5 = 4.96. So you need 5 panels.
A good start is one full wall. Still a bit of echo afterwards? You can always cover a second wall later.

Frequently asked questions about placing acoustic panels
-
Where is the best place to put acoustic panels?
On the largest bare, hard wall in the room, or on the wall opposite another hard wall. In the living room, that's often behind the sofa or around the TV; in the home office, opposite or next to your desk; and in the bedroom, behind the bed.
-
Can I install acoustic panels myself?
Yes. You attach them with screws or mounting adhesive, depending on your wall. Clear instructions are included.
-
Is it better to hang acoustic panels behind or opposite the TV?
Both work. Behind the TV, they give your TV wall a warm look. Behind the sofa, they absorb the sound that would otherwise bounce straight back to where you're sitting. If in doubt, choose the largest bare wall.
-
Which colour acoustic panels should I choose?
Choose a shade that matches your cabinets or your floor. Our panels are available in Walnut Oak, Ivory Oak, Smoked Oak and Charcoal Oak, each matched to one of our cabinet colours. With free colour samples, you can see the result at home in real life.

How many acoustic panels do I need?
A good start is one full wall. One panel measures 270 x 60.5 cm and covers about 1.63 mÂČ. For a wall 3 metres wide, you need 5 panels.
-
Do acoustic panels block noise from the neighbours?
No. Acoustic panels reduce echo within a room. They are not sound insulation and do not block noise from outside or from the neighbours.
